Lonzagard® Non Alcohol Hand Sanitizer (NAHS) is a no rinse hand sanitizer that is effective in reducing microorganisms on clean hands. This aqueous based sanitizer has been formulated with Lonzagard® Benzethonium Chloride USP, a well recognized antimicrobial active ingredient. This product is intended for use on hands to reduce the number of microorganisms that can cause infection and illness. Use Lonzagard® Non Alcohol Hand Sanitizer on hands anytime where cleaning with soap and water is either unavailable or inconvenient.

Active Ingredient

The Non Alcohol Hand Sanitizer for consumer usage utilizes Lonzagard® (Benzethonium Chloride USP), a unique quaternary ammonium-based antimicrobial compound, as an active ingredient. Lonzagard® has broad regulatory acceptance under 11 US tentative and final monographs as an active ingredient and preservative. Benzethonium Chloride USP, is highly effective with short contact time against a large number of typical gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial organisms. It is used in antibacterial hand soaps and wipes products under the FDA’s Topical Antimicrobial Tentative Final Monograph (TFM).

The test organism is grown overnight on an agar medium. The growth is then suspended in phosphate buffer and diluted to desired cell concentration. One ml of the cell suspension is added to 99 ml of the formulation and mixed well. After the contact time of 1 minute, an aliquot is removed and transferred to a tube of medium containing neutralizer capable of halting the antimicrobial activity. The bacteria in the neutralizing tube are enumerated by serial dilution in microwell plates. The bacterial reduction is computed, relative to an unchallenged control culture.

Directions

Press pump twice to deliver two squirts(about the size of a quarter) of foaming product onto the palm of your hand. Rub hands together until hands are dry. Use as needed between handwashes to help reduce bacteria on the skin.

Warnings

Technical User Information:

Contraindications:

Care should be taken with individuals with suspected sensitivity to dry skin conditions as they may be susceptible. Lonzagard HR Ultra should not be swallowed to avoid discomfort or injury.

 

Directions For Use

Use as supplied, undiluted. Apply 3-6 ml to palm of one hand and rapidly spread the product over front and back of hands, between fingers, around and under nails. Supervise children in the use of this product.

 

Precautionary Statements:

Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

First Aid

Inhalation:

Remove affected person to fresh air. If signs/symptoms continue, get medical attention.

Skin Contact:

Stop use and ask a doctor if irritation and redness develop and persists for more than 72 hours. Wash immediately with plenty of soap and water.

Eye Contact:

In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Ingestion:

Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. Immediately give large quantities of water to drink. Call physician immediately. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Use restriction:

This product is not to be used as a terminal sterilant or high level disinfection on any surface or instrument that:

  1. Is introduced directly into the human body, either into or in contact with the bloodstream or normally sterile area of the body, or
  2. Contacts intact mucous membranes but which does not ordinarily penetrate the blood barrier or otherwise enter normally sterile areas of the body.

Bactericidal Stability of Use-Dilution

  • HWS 256 will kill any bacteria, fungi, mildew and virus in 10 minutes.
  • HWS 256 will kill any disinfectant in 10 minutes.

Tests confirm that formulation HWS-256, when diluted in 400 ppm hard water remains effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella enterica for up to one year when stored in a sealed container such as a spray bottle. If product becomes visibly dirty or contaminated, then the used dilution must be discarded and fresh product must be perpared. Always use clean, properly labeled containers when diluting this product. Bactericidal stability of the use-dilution does not apply to open containers such as buckets or pails.

PHENOCIDE 256

Germicidal Disinfectant

Lonza formulation PHENOCIDE 256 is a multi purpose germicidal detergent that cleans and deodorizes in one step. Biocidal performance is attained when this product is properly diluted 0.5 oz. per gallon of water or 1:256. PHENOCIDE 256 can be used to disinfect hard, non-porous surface such as bathroom sinks, conductive flooring, countertops, exhaust fans, glazed porcelain tiling, outdoor furniture, painted surfaces, telephones, refrigerators, urinals, walls and many other surfaces. It can be used in areas such as hospitals, dental offices, federally inspected meat and poultry farms, hatcheries as well as many other areas. This product is also tuberculocidal when used according to label directions.

Based on the BVDV and Vaccinia virus expertise (according RKI / DVV] the formulation ID-50 can be declared as having “limited virucidal” properties according to a recommendation of an expert committee of Robert Koch Institute (RKI), Germany (Bundesgesundheitsblatt 2004,47:62-66) and is thus able to inactivate all enveloped viruses.

The following concentration and exposure time are necessary for inactivation of the two test viruses:

Therefore, after successful experiments with the two above mentioned enveloped viruses the formulation ID-50 is also effective against so-called blood-borne viruses including HBV, HCV and HIV
