About CISPLATIN INJECTION- 10mg/20ml,50mg/100ml INJECTION

  • Cisplatin is a platinum coordination complex. It causes cross linking of DNA; favoured site being N7 of guanine residue. It can also react with –SH groups in proteins and has radiomimetic property. It is bound to plasma proteins, enters, tissues & is slowly excreted unchanged in urine. Cisplatin is very effective in metastatic testicular & ovarian carcinoma. It has found use in some other solid tumours as well.
Indication

  • Metastatic testicular and overian carcinoma, advanced bladder, Head & neck cancer.
  • Contraindications : Pregnancy, lactation hypersensitivity, renal impairment.
  • Drug Interactions : Potentiates neurotoxicity with aminoglycosides. Ideal combination with other cytotoxic drugs.Synergistic with 5-fluorouracil and etoposide.
  • Dosage : Admin by slow infusion 10-60 mg or as required.

 
Precautions

Maintain good hydration.
Shock like state sometimes occurs during i.v. infusion,.
Monitor haematological, neurological status & renal functions.
Hypomagnesaemia. Hypocalcaemia. Hyperuricaemia.

About Paclitaxel Injection

Paclitaxel is a diterpenoid compound with anti-tumour activity. It binds specifically to the tubulin subunit of microtubule and appears to antagonise the disassembly of this cytoskeletal protein.

 
Indication

  • Metastatic ovarian and breast cancer.
  • Contra Indications :Hypersensitivity.

 
Dosage

  • 175 mg per square metre by iv infusion over 3 hrs. repeat every 3 weeks. Pretreat with corticosteroids, antihistaminics and H2 antagonists.
  • Special Precautions :Monitor heamatological functions.
  • Paediatrics : Not recommended.
  • Pregnancy : Not usually prescribec.
  • Lactation : Not advised.

DOCETAXEL INJECTION
 

 

 
About DOCETAXEL INJECTION 20mg/0.5 ml, 80mg/2ml, & 120mg/3ml

CDocetaxel - It is an anti-neoplastic agent.

Dosage

  • Administered parenterally.
  • The dose should be individualized depending on the size of the patient and whether or not other medicines are also being taken. Adults: 60 to 100 mg /1.73 ml intravenously.

Contra Indications

  • Hypersensitivity , alcohol abuse or history of, chickenpox, herps zoster, fluid in lungs, infection , liver disease.
  • Malignant lymphoma. Gastro-intestinal tract carcinoma. Bronchogenic, bladder, breast & overian carcinoma. Wilm’s tumour. Acute my eloblastic leukaemia. Soft tissue & bone sarcomas.
  • Cardiac disease. Hepatic dysfunction.

Special Precautions

  • Immunization specifically persons living in the patient’s household should not take oral polio vaccine.
  • ECG changes, arrhythmias, hypotension, or be delayed congestive heart failure.
  • Paediatrics : Only limited studies are done.
  • Pregnancy : Contraindicated.
  • Lactation : Generally not recommended.
  • Elderly : Use with caution.

 
CYCLOPHOSAMIDE INJECTION
 

 

 
About CYCLOPHOSAMIDE INJECTION 200mg/500mg/1gm

Cyclophosamide is an antineoplastic and immuno modulating agent. It is bio-transformed in liver to active alkylated metabolite. These metabolites interfere with growth of susceptible rapidly multiplying malignant cells by cross-linking of tumour cell-DNA

Indications

  • Hodgekin's disease, lymphocytic lymphogranulomatosis, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, mycosis, adenocarcinoma ovary, carcinoma breast. Also useful in biopsy diagonsed minimal change nephrotic syndrome in children who fail to respond to steroids.
  • Contraindications :Pregnancy, lactation

Safety Profile

  • Regular haematological profile and urine examination should be done.

Adverse Effects

  • Sterility in both sexes may occur, amenorrhoea, haemorrhagic cystitis, fibrosis of bladder, nausea, vomitting, anorexia, alopecia, skin rash, pigmentation, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, intestinal pulmonary fibrosis, anaphylactic reactions.

Dosage

  • In malignant disease : Adult & Children - Initial course 40-50 mg/kg i.v. in divided dose over 2-5 days or 10-15 mg/kg i.v. given every 7-10 days Oral- 1-5 mg/kg/day for both sexes and maintenance phase.
  • In combination cytotoxic regimen, it may be necessary to decrease the dose.
  • In minimal change disease in children oral; 2.5 to 3mg./kg/day for 60-90 days.

Safety Information

  • Paediatrics : Safety is not established in patient with neutropenia or primary/secondary immuno deficiency. Safety is not established in infants under 3 months of age.
  • Pregnancy and Lactation : Safety is not established
  • Elderly :Safe for elderly with normal renal functions.
  • Side–effects :Serious adverse effects are rare. Local IV injection site reaction, site reaction and neutrophilia. Headache, paresthesia, convulsions, oral and vaginal candidiasis.
  • Purity : Not less than 99%.

 
DOXORUBICIN INJECTION
 

 

 
About DOXOORUBICIN INJECTION 10mg /50mg

Doxoorubicin is a antitumour antibiotic and finds a useful application in acute leukemia & in many solid tumours. Doxorubicin is capable of cusing breaks in DNA strands and have mutagenic and carcinogenic potential. Maximum action is exerted at S phase, but toxicity is usually exhibited in G2 phase.

Indications

Malignant lymphoma. Gastro-intestinal tract carcinoma. Bronchogenic, bladder, breast & overian carcinoma. Wilm’s tumour. Acute my eloblastic leukaemia. Soft tissue & bone sarcomas.
Contra Indications : Cardiac disease. Hepatic dysfunction.
Drug Interactions : Cyclosporin, cardiotoxic agents potentiates the cardiotoxicity.

Dosage

  • 1.2-2.4 mg/kg body wt or 60-75 mg/sq metre of body surface given as a single dose every 3 week by slow i.v. injection.

Special Precautions

  • ECG changes, arrhythmias, hypotension, or be delayed congestive heart failure.
  • Paediatrics : Reduced dose necessary.
  • Pregnancy : Not usually prescribed.
  • Lactation : Not prescribed.
  • Elderly : Reduced dose may be necessary.
